We all know how increasingly difficult it can be to share the gospel in the workplace, or talk about it with non-believing family and friends—let alone be outspoken politically or culturally. We are also increasingly losing our ability to exercise freedoms of speech, conscience, and religion. Likewise, we are struggling to raise the younger generations to stand firm in their faith, to know the Bible, and to answer the prevailing culture. At Saturate Church, we are training our church community not only on what we should believe, as we study the Scriptures together, but on why we should believe it; and then how we can share it persuasively with others from all different perspectives. We also intentionally integrate the worldview of the Bible into all spheres of life—church, family, work, and culture.
Jesus told us to “Go, make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:18-20). Now that the whole world has moved next door, we don’t need to go anywhere. Staying is the new going! Saturate Church is organized to engage cross-culturally as we orient our lifestyles to embrace God’s mission opportunity right here at home. We are training up local missionaries to pioneer new areas of mission to unreached peoples. And we are equipping all members of our church community to share the gospel skillfully, as we also facilitate connections for them into different religious communities through five clear pathways.
At Saturate Church, we have realized
that a home-based community with a focus on hospitality is more inviting than a church building to many people today, especially to those from other religious backgrounds. So we believe a great way to both reach the world next door and stand strong in this changing culture is to orient our lifestyles to intentionally shape a culture of community within one another’s homes. We realize we need each other more regularly present in our lives as an extended spiritual family, and we need to evangelize alongside one another to draw on each other’s strengths. We take a hands-on and life-on-life approach to this that is modelled by mature members in the community. This is what we envision as we form missional communities together.
